What the AI Brain does

The DTFGSA AI Brain is the core processing engine behind every gang sheet builder feature. It runs in under 100 milliseconds per design and produces production-ready output with no manual prep step. The video above demonstrates the full pipeline on real customer artwork.

AI Auto-Nesting

No-fit polygon packing at 85-95% sheet utilization. Manual Photoshop layout fits 60-70% in 20-45 minutes; the AI Brain fits 90% in under 100ms.

Auto White Channel

Generates the white spot color layer for every design automatically — no Photoshop step. Full named spot color in TIFF/PSD/PDF.

Adaptive Choke

Calculates a different choke value per design based on edge complexity and minimum feature width. Bold logos get 1.0mm; photos get 0.3mm; small text 0.2mm.

AI Background Removal

One-click background removal in the builder. Customer-driven, so files arrive on transparency without operator effort.

AI Upscaling

Low-res customer artwork gets upscaled in-browser before nesting, eliminating the most common file-rejection cause in DTF.

RIP-Ready Export

Production output as TIFF with named spot color, layered PSD, or PDF with separations. Drops directly into Cadlink, Wasatch, AcroRIP, and Onyx without manual prep.

White channel + adaptive choke generates per design Toggle the white-channel preview to see how the choke value differs per design. The bold logo gets a thicker choke; the photographic transfer gets thinner; small text gets minimal choke to preserve legibility.

Production-ready export TIFF with named "White" spot channel exports in seconds. Drop the file straight into your DTF RIP — Cadlink, Wasatch, AcroRIP, Onyx all auto-detect the named spot color without manual mapping.

Why this matters: the entire workflow shown in 94 seconds replaces 60-180 minutes of manual prepress per gang sheet. On a 50-orders-per-day shop, that's 33+ hours of operator time saved daily — or the equivalent of a full-time prepress employee per shift.

How the AI Brain works internally

The AI Brain runs four parallel pipelines on every uploaded design:

  1. Alpha mask extraction — reads the transparency channel of the input file. PNG, PSD, AI, EPS, and TIFF inputs all parse to a unified alpha representation at sub-pixel precision.
  2. Edge complexity scoring — measures contour wave-frequency via marching-squares. Smooth-edged shapes score low (0.0-0.3); high-frequency edges (fur, hair, halftone, text) score high (0.6-1.0).
  3. Minimum feature width detection — skeletonizes the alpha mask to find the thinnest stroke or detail. Used as a hard ceiling for the choke value (you can't choke more than half the thinnest stroke without erasing it).
  4. Nesting and layout solver — no-fit polygon packing with rotation optimization and simulated annealing, evaluating thousands of layout permutations per second to find the densest valid packing.

The four pipelines combine into the final adaptive choke calculation:

choke = min(minFeatureWidth / 2 × 0.85, baseChoke × (1 − edgeComplexity × 0.7))

With a hard floor of 0.15mm and ceiling of 1.5mm. This produces a per-design choke value that is mathematically optimal — never erasing fine detail, never leaving white halos, regardless of how mixed the gang sheet artwork is.
